The Central Electoral Commission, at a meeting held today, decided to hold new local elections for the post of mayor of Tabani village, Briceni rayon, on May 18, 2025. The mandate became vacant after the death of the mayor, IPN reports.

Mayors are to be elected in several localities on the same day.

The ballot in Bolduresti commune, Nisporeni rayon, was set due to the fact that the former mayor was unable to hold office for more than five consecutive months, including for health reasons. According to the law, in such cases, the mandate is terminated.

Also on May 18, the residents of Calugar commune in Falesti will elect a new mayor. The elections were set after the National Integrity Authority issued a final finding that the mayor was disqualified from holding public office for three years.

And in Chiperceni commune, Orhei rayon, the mayor's position became vacant following the mayor's resignation.

Following the death of the mayor of Talmaza, Stefan Voda rayon, a new election will also be held there.

On May 18, the new Temeleuți village council, Floresti rayon, will be elected.
