The unit for implementing the project to build the penitentiary of Chisinau signed a contract providing that the contractor will finish the design of the new penitentiary in 12 months, IPN reports.

In a press release, the Department of Penitentiary Institutions (DPI) says a day ago, the working group of the unit and of Penitentiary No. 13 of Chisinau, in concert with representatives of the designing company, discussed the clauses of the contract, while the chief architect of the company presented the draft design of the future penitentiary center.

According to the DPI, the project to build the future penitentiary will contribute to achieving the Government’s objective to reform the organization and management of penitentiary institutions in a move to set new safety, security and discipline standards, without affecting prisoners’ dignity.
