New customs regime at Moldovan-Ukrainian border comes in force in March 2006

Moldova complied with all the commitments of the Ukrainian part regarding the new tax and duties system at the Moldovan-Ukrainian border by Transnistrian businessmen, thus it could come in force in March 2006. a statement in this sense was made on Wednesday, 22 February, by the minister of reintegration, Vasili Sova. According to minister, previously Ukraine refused to comply with the bilateral agreement regarding the new customs regime at Moldovan-Ukrainian frontier, addressing additional requirements, of technical order, in order to improve the activity of the latter one. The government approved on Wednesday some modifications to it, complying this way with the conditions of the Ukrainian part. The firs modification regards the prolongation of licences given to Transnistrian businessmen for 6 months, after the term has expired. Onther modification supposes to issue the ST1 origin certificates for Transnistrian enterprises, which got temporary registration for exporting in Ukraine. „As a result of the fact that Moldova satisfied all the requirements, there is no reason to postpone the implementation of the bilateral agreement in this area,” Vasile Sova noted. The prime ministers of both countries concluded the bilateral agreement, regarding the new tax and duties regime at Moldovan-Ukrainian border by Transnistrian businessmen, at the end of last year. This should come in force on 25 January 2006, but the Ukrainian part postponed its implementation on technical backgroundo.
