New contest to fill vacancies on Supervisory Board to be held

The Broadcasting Coordination Council (BCC) will announce a new contest to fill the two vacant posts of member of the Supervisory Board of the National Public Broadcaster “Teleradio-Moldova”. In the June 8 meeting of the Council, no candidate garnered the necessary number of votes to be named to this post, IPN reports.

The contest involved ten candidates. One of these withdrew, while three didn’t present themselves. Those who came to the meeting didn’t make an impression. According to the BCC members, the competitors’ attitude to this contest leaves to be desired at a time when the Supervisory Board is one of the administrative bodies of “Teleradio-Moldova” and its members assume huge responsibilities.

The Council will announce a new contest within 15 days of the publication of the relevant decision in the Official Gazette. Earlier, the BCC selected former Council member Vitalie Tabunshchik and is to choose three more candidates for proposing Parliament by two candidates for each of the two vacancies for confirmation.

The Supervisory Board has been nonfunctional since the end of 2013, when the terms in office of six of the nine members expired. At the beginning of March, Parliament confirmed four persons to the post of Board member, namely Vitalie Tapes, Stela Nistor, Ludmila Vasilache, and Lilia Gurez.
