New conditions regarding transportation of goods in EU

The procedure for importing goods into the European Union, within international road traffic, is modified. Thus, starting with April 1, road transport operators are to electronically transmit in the ICS2 system, prior to the arrival of goods at the border, information on goods destined for the EU or transiting EU states, in the form of an import customs declaration, IPN reports.

The new requirements also apply to parcel post and logistics service providers.

"The European Commission informed about new EU customs system requirements aimed at ensuring prior control on the safety and security of goods before their arrival at customs posts – the Import Control System (ICS2)", said the National Motor Transport Agency.

The ICS2 system will fully replace the previous system (ICS1) and introduce a new operational system, in accordance with the Union Customs Code.

According to the Agency, given the importance of complying with the new procedures when importing goods, the European Commission will stage webinars for interested parties, in which questions can be asked regarding operational and technical aspects of the ICS2.
