The National Bank of Moldova on Friday put a number of commemorative coins in the numismatic circuit. They are packaged in transparent methacrylate capsules and presentation boxes, accompanied by certificates of authenticity with a QR code, which, when scanned, redirects to the National Bank's website with information about each currency, IPN reports.
The "Personalities" series is completed with two coins. One coin is dedicated to the 400th anniversary of the birth of Metropolitan Bishop Dosoftei, the second coin - to the 75th anniversary of the birth of artist Ștefan Petrache. The coins are made of silver, have a face value of 50 lei and a mintage of 300 units each.
The "Science and Innovation" series is enriched with a silver coin, dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the birth of Nicolae Donici, a world-renowned astronomer. The coin has a face value of 50 lei and a mintage of 350 units.
The "Holy Places" series is supplemented with a silver commemorative coin, with the face value of 50 lei and with a mintage of 500 units, dedicated to the most imposing construction of the first half of the 20th century, a monument of national importance, a holy place and a work of art that strongly affirms the Romanian nation - "Saints Emperors Constantine and Helen" Cathedral located in Bălți.
The "Sport" series is complemented with three coins dedicated to the Moldovan sports - canoeing, wrestling, weightlifting - sports events in which the Republic of Moldova achieved remarkable results in recent years at international and European levels. The silver coins have a face value of 50 lei and a mintage of 500 units each.
The commemorative coins are sold to the general public both by the National Bank of Moldova, based on applications submitted online through the Bank’s website, in the "Currency" section, and through licensed banks of the Republic of Moldova.
