New chief named at Gagauzia Prosecutor’s Office

The post of chief prosecutor of the Gagauzia Prosecutor’s Office will be held on an interim basis, until this is filled by a contest, by Victor Kylchik, who serves as a prosecutor at the same local subdivision. An order to this effect was signed by Prosecutor General Alexandr Stoianoglo, IPN reports.

Also, Vasile Levitski, prosecutor serving at the Chisinau City Prosecutor’s Office, will hold the post of deputy chief prosecutor of the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office on an interim basis.

The Prosecutor General’s Office said both of the prosecutors recently returned to the prosecution service after leaving the system in 2014. By decisions taken by the Superior Council of Prosecutors on June 18, 2020, they were designated winners of the contests and thus occupied the vacancies of prosecutor at the Gagauzia Prosecutor’s Office and, respectively, at the Chisinau City Prosecutor’s Office.

Victor Kylchik has worked in the prosecution service for 16 years. He held a number of executive posts at the Gagauzia Prosecutor’s Office, while in 2004-2014 he headed the Vulcănești Prosecutor’s Office.

Vasile Levitski has served as a prosecutor for 20 years, working at the Bălți Prosecutor’s Office and at the Râșcani Prosecutor’s Office of Chisinau, while in 2004-2014 he served as the deputy chief of the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office.
