New bomb threat against Chisinau Airport. Check-in interrupted

A new bomb scare against the Chisinau International Airport was reported last night. Travelers and airport staff were evacuated and the check-in was interrupted. Following checks, it was established that it was a hoax.

Contacted by IPN for details, press officer of the Border Police Raisa Novitski said that border guards were informed that explosive devices had been planted at the Chisinau International Airport. In accordance with the legal procedures, all the specialized services of the Ministry of Internal Affairs were mobilized for checks. After two hours of searching, the bomb threat was declared a hoax and the airport resumed work.

The Chisinau International Airport was the target of bomb hoaxes last week as well - on Saturday night and Sunday evening. At that time, it was reported that explosives had been planted also in an aircraft. The press in Romania reported that a London-Chisinau flight, with 220 passengers on board, was diverted to Iasi.

Intentional misinforming about an act of terrorism is punishable with a fine of 27,500 to 42,500 lei, 180 to 240 hours of community service or at most two years in jail.
