Net revenues of Moldvan banking system in 2008 grew 16.9%
The net revenues of the Moldovan banking system in 2008 grew 16.9% compared to 2007, reaching 1,270.3 million lei, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to the National Bank of Moldova, the profitability of assets and equities later last December stood at 3.5% and 19.9%, respectively, dropping 0.4 and 4.1 percentage points compared to 2007.
The slumb is explained through higher growing pace of assets and equities related to the growth of the net income. First tier capital of the banks rose 27.5% to reach 6,665.2 million lei. The share of foreign investments in the banks' capital was 74.1%, that is 2.2 p.p. more than in the beginning of the year, because the equities grew after the investments fo foreign investors.
The total assets of the Moldovan banking system by the end of December 2008, compared to the beginning of the year, surged 22.3% to reach 39,122.7 million lei.
The largest weight in the loans portfolio was ensured by the loans yieled to industry and trade – 48.7%, followed by the loans related to realty and development – 14.6%, by the loans granted to agriculture and food processing industry – 13.3% and the consumption loans – 12.9%.
The ratio of the consumption loans up to 700,000 lei grew 12.2% in 2008, to reach 2,560.1 million lei. The ratio of the loans yielded to companies was 7,051.6 million lei, that is 13.6% more compared to the beginning of the year.
The ratio of the loans granted to small and medium enterprises was 9,061.9 million lei, that is 19.2% more. The banks' owed, by the end of December, an amount of 32,088 million lei, that is 21.3% more compared to the beginning of 2008, the deposits totaled 27,196.6 million lei, rising 17.7% compared to December 2007.
