Negotiations to support the common candidate for the mayoralty of Chisinau fielded by the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” and the Party “Action and Solidarity”, Andrei Nastase, can be yet held on the right. Such an opinion was stated in the talk show “Politics” on TV8 channel, IPN reports.
Political commentator Vlad Turcanu said the two parties, the PPPDA and PAS, could have cooperated better not only with small parties, but also with civil society and the business community so as to create the impression of a movement, not of an alliance of two parties. “For now, the two parties are hermetic and do not accept other persons without a pronounced political preference among their ranks. But there are personalities and these could influence the people’s vote,” stated the commentator.
Political analyst Anatol Taranu said the pro-European opposition in the local elections in Chisinau is unpardonably fragmented. “Regrettably, the pro-European opposition does not have a common candidate. There was announced a common candidate, but this didn’t become common in the perception of the voters and of the politicians of the pro-European segment,” stated Anatol Taranu. According to him, the unionist component in Chisinau represents more than 10% and, without the support of this segment, the pro-European candidate does not have chances to reach the runoffs.
Political commentator Victor Ciobanu said there are now three candidates with chances of winning. It is not excluded that about five candidates with special missions will appear on the last 100 meters. The victory of Socialist Ion Ceban is the fallback of Vladimir Plahotniuc, if Silvia Radu is not elected mayor. “Silvia Radu is preferred and is promoted by Plahotniuc’s media holding,” he stated, noting that even if Andrei Nastase loses the runoffs, he will anyway have a good position as he will obtain a good score for the parliamentary elections.
