The men’s chess team of Moldova scored a new victory at the Chess Olympiad that is held in Batumi, Georgia, IPN reports.
Moldova beat Cuba 2.5 – 1.5 in the fourth round and ranks 11th out of 185 teams. The squad of Moldova consists of grand masters Viorel Bologan, Viorel Iordăchescu, Dmitrii Svetushkin and Vladimir Hamitsevich. In the fifth round, Moldova plays Germany.
The women’s team also has a good performance. In the fourth round, Moldova defeated Sweden 2.5 – 1.5. The squad is made up of grand masters Svetlana Petrenco and Elena Pîrțac and masters Diana Baciu, Olga Hâncu and Paula-Alexandra Gîtu.
