National Philharmonic opens anniversary season

The National Philharmonic “Sergey Lunkevich” officially opens its 75th anniversary season that includes a series of concerts that will be given until next June, IPN reports.

“This year we gave up the formula of jubilee concerts with bouquets of flowers, when we celebrate and then everyone forgets that the event took place. This time we aim to stage a continuous holiday, from September until June, with unusual and interesting events for the spectators,” said the Philharmonic’s director Svetlana Bivol.

The anniversary 2015-2016 season will be opened by two symphonic concerts on October 2 and October 9. The first concert will be given by the Symphonic Orchestra of the National Philharmonic and the Symphonic Orchestra of the National Public Broadcaster “Teleradio-Moldova”.

The first project of this season has been launched. It includes a series of concerts entitled “In unison with friends”. “We reached a moment when we must work with the public and teach them how to listen to the music. The Philharmonic now works with the children and gives lesson-concerts, but I think we should go further and should teach the public how to savor the music,” said Gheorghe Mustea, first conductor of the Symphonic Orchestra of “Teleradio-Moldova”.

The season will close with a concert by the Symphonic Orchestra of the National Philharmonic and Moldovan pop, rock and jazz singers.
