National museums to open doors on European Night of Museums

The national museums will open their doors to the visitors in the evening of May 16, on the occasion of the European Night of Museums, which is the nocturnal twin of the International Day of Museums that is marked on May 18. This year’s event includes a series of activities at the museums managed by the Ministry of Culture and in public places, IPN reports, quoting a press release of the Ministry.

On May 16, the public will be able to go on a guided tour of the city, with stops at the museums taking part in the project, staged with the support of the Chisinau City Hall. The tour will be made between 6:30 and 11:00, from the trolleybus station located on 31 august 1989.

To facilitate the public’s access to the event, the public transport will be redirected from 31 august 1989, in the perimeter of the streets Mitropolit G. Banulescu-Bodoni and A. Pushkin, between 5:00pm and 2:00am. The private transport will not have access to that area.

At local level, activities on the occasion of the European Night of Museums will be staged at the museums in Anenii Noi, Cantemir, Cahul, Criuleni, Calarasi, Donduseni, Glodeni, Falesti, Hancesti, Ialoveni, Leova, Nisporeni, Orhei, Rascani, and Soroca. Entrance to the museums will be free of charge for everyone.

Initiated by the Ministry of Culture and Communication of France, the European Night of Museums is now at its eleventh edition. The event is traditionally patronized by the Council of Europe, UNESCO and the International Council of Museums.
