The Interstate Union Romania – Moldova, as a European-Romanian project and a mechanism for the acceleration of the accession process of the second Romanian state to the European Union is the message of the National Liberal Party for the local elections. This project is the major support of the first Romanian state for the second one, in order to cure Moldova from poverty and Russian influence, the leader of the NLP, Vitalia Pavlicenco told a news conference on Thursday, May 3. According to Pavlicenco, despite the tempting promises made by the candidates during the last few years, things remain unchanged, which proves that without logistic support from Romania, European countries and USA, the situation will stay the same for the next 4 years. Pavlicenco says that at the moment it is necessary to replace the leadership of the local public administration with pro-Romanian and pro-European political forces, so that in 2009 the interstate union with Romania becomes a national decision, being accepted at state level. NLP recently launched the Electoral programme-2007 and the team of the NLP for Chisinau, managing to finish within 3 months the procedure on submitting the lists of candidates for the offices of mayor and councillors in over a half of Moldova’s settlements. The leader of the party says that NLP launched an anticommunist message in this campaign, which is based on real facts. Vitalia Pavlicenco recalled in this respect the lawsuit against President Vladimir Voronin she had initiated, being decided to appeal the ECHR in case the national courts will not give a favourable decision. Moreover, NLP intends to start legal proceedings against several state bodies for the fact that the ruling party governs illegally. NLP deputy-chairman Anatol Taranu says that the electoral message of the party is a step towards the 2009 parliamentary elections. At the moment, the cited source says that that Moldova has become an oligarchic state, where the power is in the hands of several rich persons, where no European-type democracy exits, only a pseudo democracy, which serves the interests of the oligarchs and disfavours the majority of the population. According to Taranu, only through the interstate union Romania – Moldova, the European projects for the local public administration can be carried out, which will allow to reduce poverty significantly. The leadership of the NLP says that the solution to the disastrous situation in Moldova is to eliminate the communists and their political partners by creating favourable conditions for the development of the middle class, which is the base of the liberal society.
