The National Pre-Hospital Emergency Medical Assistance Center received a considerable batch of disinfectant that was purchased with a €50 million grant provided by the Embassy of Germany in Moldova. The batch consists of almost 12 tonnes of disinfectant and 243,000 disinfecting wipes for the health workers to swiftly sanitize their hands, surfaces and medical equipment. The batch will be distributed to the 41 emergency medical assistance stations in towns and the 95 emergency medical assistance units in villages. This way, 250 emergency teams will get disinfectant for daily use, IPN reports.
In the handover event, director of the Pre-Hospital Emergency Medical Assistance Center Boris Golovin said the given disinfectant will enable well-equipped medical personnel to efficiently protect the population. “Your noble commitment that forms part of a comprehensive solidarity program in support of the citizens of the Republic of Moldova in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic will be felt in all the country’s settlements without exception,” stated Boris Golovin, addressing Germany’s Ambassadors to Moldova Angela Ganninger.
For his part, the diplomat said that the lot includes six types of disinfectant that are widely used and are highly effective against COVID-19 and against other germs. “The persons working in the emergency medical assistance sector are frontline staff during the current pandemic and deserve all our support,” stated Angela Ganninger
Zinaida Bezverhni, secretary of state at the Ministry of Health, noted that until now Germany provided huge assistance to the Republic of Moldova in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic. Germany donated protective equipment to the value of over 245 million lei. “I don’t think there is any hospital in the Republic of Moldova, including on the left side of the Nistru, which wouldn’t have benefited from German support – a ventilator, a pulse oximeter, protective suits or masks - by which the health workers can feel this important aid,” stated the functionary.
