National Chamber Orchestra to perform in Romanian cities

The National Chamber Orchestra of the Republic of Moldova will take part in the greatest international cultural event held in Romania – the International Festival “George Enescu”. The musicians will also give concerts in Bucharest, Sibiu, Bacau and Bistrita-Nasaud, IPN has learned from the Ministry of Culture.

The National Chamber Orchestra will take part in this festival for the second time. The musicians will hold two concerts under the direction of Master Cristian Florea. The first concert will take place in the Bucharest Palace Small Hall on September 12. It forms part of the series of concerts “Enescu and his contemporaries”. The second concert, of the series “Concerts in the country”, will be given at the State Philharmonic of Sibiu on September 15. The tour ends in Bistrita-Nasaud on September 17.

The 22nd International Festival “George Enescu” is held in Bucharest and other Romanian cities between August 30 and September 20. The event is devoted to the 134th anniversary of the birth of the great Romanian composer.  It includes 22 works by George Enescu, which will be performed by some of the most famous orchestras of the world, such as the Royal Concertgebouw Amsterdam, the London Symphony Orchestra, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. More than 70 concerts involving about 2,500 foreign artists will be given during 22 days.

The International Festival “George Enescu” is staged once in two years and promotes the Romanian composer’s works and values that form part of the world heritage.
