There will be no delay and the results of the population and housing census of 2014 will be presented next week, on March 31, director of the National Bureau of Statistics Vitalie Valcov assured in a press club meeting on March 24, IPN reports.

“The fact that we collected data based on a law for the first time was a challenge for us. The too low number of persons involved in data collection and processing was another challenge. Gradually, with the advancing of the process, the number of employees had to be increased, but this wasn’t done and we had to cope with the same forces throughout the data collection process and the workload was enormous. And this was a factor that led to a delay in the presentation of data,” stated Vitalie Valcov.

He noted that the data collection process in rural areas was of a higher quality than that in urban areas. The process was rather hard in Chisinau municipality.

As many 11,000 census takers collected data in 2014, while 200 operators processed them. The total census taking costs amounted to 86 million lei.
