Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet congratulated the servicemen on the occasion of the 24th anniversary of the establishment of the national armed forces, saying the National Army in the over two decades of existence proved that it is a force able to fulfill its duties and to be the guarantor of the constitutional democracy, IPN reports.

The Premier addressed a congratulatory message, saying the National Army goes through a period of reformation so that it becomes a modern army of the European model that is able to be interoperable with the other armies of the world. To achieve this objective, the Government of Moldova banks on the qualities of the Moldovan servicemen, who are professionals and real patriots.

Minister of Defense Anatol Salaru congratulated the officers, sub-officers and public functionaries on the event, saying their contribution to building a safe and functional military institution is great. “Despite the obstacles, you managed to ensure the country’s honor by concrete actions that deserve society’s respect. I express my gratitude to you for the missions that you carry out in the country and abroad and for your daily devotion,” he stated.

General Staff chief and National Army commander Igor Gorgan said that during the over two decades, the Moldovan servicemen took part in numerous multinational exercises and peacekeeping operations, promoting thus Moldova’s image abroad. “This year, we took part in theaters of operations and international drills in Romania, Ukraine and Germany. We managed to plan and stage the multinational exercise “Joint Effort” in our country, with the participation of our partners from the U.S., Romania, Georgia, and Poland,” stated the brigade general.

On the occasion of the 24th anniversary of the foundation of the National Army, the country’s leadership laid flowers at the monument to Ruler Stephan the Great and Holy in central Chisinau.
