National air operators advised to avoid Iraqi and Iranian airspace

Given the increased tensions in the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman, the Civil Aviation Authority of Moldova recommends the national air operators to avoid the Iraqi and Iranian airspace following the Iranian missile attacks on U.S. - led forces and to avoid the affected areas and implement measures to prevent damagers to civil aviation, IPN reports.

In this connection, the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) recommended the European airlines to avoid Iraqi airspace, in the wake of Iranian missile attacks against U.S.-led forces in the country.

In order to anticipate crisis situations, the Civil Aviation Authority will issue an ordinance to urge the national air operators to step up control and make sure the aircraft with engines similar to those of the plane that crashed in Iran are in a proper technical state.

The Boeing 737 jet operated by Ukraine International Airlines took off early Wednesday en route to the Ukrainian capital Kiev, carrying over 170 passengers and nine crew before crashing between the cities of Parand and Shahriar. Witnesses described seeing a fireball in the sky and images of the wreckage show charred parts of the plane strewn over a field. A technical failure is suspected of having brought the plane down. The authorities in Ukraine are also considering other eventual causes of the crash.
