Nation al Army recruited over 600 young people this month

The National Army of the Republic of Moldova completed the conscription process. More than 600 persons were drafted during January 17-21, said the head of the Army’s Mobilization Resources and Personnel Management Center, Colonel Octavian Druţă, being quoted in a press release of the Ministry of Defense.

Before conscription, the recruits go for a preliminary medical checkup and a medical-military examination performed by specialty commissions under local administrative-military bodies to determine if the young people are fit for compulsory military service.

After they are distributed to military units, the conscripts attend an initial training course that is four weeks long and then take an oath of allegiance to the homeland, said the source, being quoted by IPN.

The ordinary military service in the National Army lasts for 12 months, while the reduced one for three months. The reduced military service is intended for graduates of higher education establishments who didn’t receive training at the military department.

“The graduates of military departments of civil education institutions are not drafted into the National Army. They obtain a military rank during the training program at the given departments, which includes participation in military shooting and in other exercises at shooting ranges of military units,” National Army press officer Ala Diaconu stated for IPN.

In April - July 2021 and in October 2021 – January 2022, the conscription plan was 1,050 recruits for ordinary military service and 10 recruits for reduced military service.
