Natalia Barbu to represent Moldova at Eurovision Song Contest 2024

Natalia Barbu will represent Moldova at the 68th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest that will take place in Malmö, Sweden. The singer won the national selection with the song ”In the middle”, IPN reports.



The struggle in the national final was between Natalia Barbu, who obtained a total of 22 points (12 from the jury and 10 from the viewers), Valeria Pasha, who also accumulated 22 points (10 from the jury and 12 from the viewers), and Iulia Teleucă who got 16 points (8 from the jury and 8 from the viewers).



The winner of the national selection is the favorite of the jury, which gave her the most points – 60.


Viewers gave the most votes (4,771) to Valeria Pasha.

Moldova’s representative at the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 will take the stage in Malmö in the second part of the first semifinal on May 7. Ukraine, Cyprus, Poland, Serbia, Lithuania, Croatia, Ireland, Slovenia, Iceland, Finland, Portugal, Luxembourg, Australia, and Azerbaijan will contend in the first semifinal alongside Moldova.

The final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 will be held on May 11.

Natalia Barbu represented Moldova at Eurovision in 2007, in the capital of Finland, Helsinki. The singer then took the 10th place with 109 points.

The Republic of Moldova has been participating in the Eurovision Song Contest since 2005. The best result so far was the 3rd place won in 2017 by the band SunStroke Project with the song “Hey, Mamma!”. Last year, the country was represented at the contest by Pasha Parfeni who finished 18th with the song “The Sun and the Moon”.
