Nameless jaywalker killed in Chisinau accident

A nameless man in his early 60s was struck to death by a Subaru as he was trying to jaywalk across Dacia Boulevard on Friday at around 12:00. Sources within the Chisinau Emergency Service said the ambulance crew was a little late to respond because of traffic jams but denied press reports that it took the crew one hour to arrive. The man was hospitalized one hour after the accident, at 13:00, as confirmed by the log, but died another hour later. Also on Friday, a man fell from the fourth floor of his apartment house on Andrei Doga Street and sustained numerous severe injuries, including open head trauma and traumatic shock. He is now “struggling between life and death” in the intensive care section of the Emergency Hospital. Two siblings, a 4-year-old girl and a 2.5-year-old boy, swallowed some pills and were admitted to the Mother & Child Center for detox. In the last 24 hours, the Emergency Service responded to 702 calls, including 92 cases of acute viral infections, 73 cases of trauma, and 10 cases of brain stroke.
