Officers of the National Anticorruption Center (NAC) on Friday morning started searches in Chisinau and also in several localities in Orhei, Rezina and Nisporeni districts. The information was confirmed for IPN by the NAC’s spokeswoman Angela Starinschi.

The criminal investigation actions are carried out in order to document the illegal acts of electoral corruption and illicit financing of political parties committed in the interests of an organized criminal group.

Update /12:25/ The National Anticorruption Center specified that the searches were initiated in connection with the acts of electoral corruption and illicit financing of political parties, committed by persons in the interests of an organized criminal group. A number of persons allegedly accepted and received illicit remuneration for supporting political parties and persons, participating as organizers and coordinators in various political actions, but also for compromising the election of the President of the Republic of Moldova and the constitutional referendum, in breach of the principles of the rule of law.

As a result of the searches, there were detected multiple discussions on mobile applications regarding the supporting of political parties and persons in exchange for illicit remuneration, as well as other objects that prove the involvement and active participation of a group of people in electoral corruption and illicit financing of parties.
