The National Anticorruption Center (NAC) announces that, by December 6, it imposed fines of 9 million lei for passive electoral corruption, on the basis of the reports received from the police, IPN reports.
The fines vary between 25,000 and 37,500 lei per case. The persons were penalized for asking for, accepting or receiving, personally or through an intermediary, goods, services, privileges or advantages in any form, in order to vote or not to vote in elections, said the NAC.
The National Anticorruption Center continues to examine the reports received from the General Police Inspectorate and is to make decisions on them. The persons who committed the contravention can be released from liability if they self-denounce and actively contribute to the discovery or counteracting of the act of electoral corruption.
