Municipality plans to purchase new trolleybuses and minibuses next year
Next year, Municipality intends to purchase public vehicles of large capacity, such as trolleybuses and minibuses, the head of the Transport and Communication department, Veceaslav Tarna told Info-Prim Neo.
According to him, acquisitions of trolleybuses and minibuses are planed from the republican budget or different investment programs.
Solicited to comment on the effects of the authorities’ intention to eliminate reequipped minibuses from traffic, Veaceslav Tarna declared that the circulation of public transport will not be affected by excluding these transport units, because a similar number to that of the vehicles running on the routes is waiting for the next tour at their terminals. He mentioned that the Government decision providing for the exclusion of the reequipped minibuses is still in force. After the technical overhaul in October, 267 transport units, which will be excluded till the end of the year have been identified. Other 1639 minibuses are to continue their activity.
The last purchases of public transport were operated in July, 2006, when 10 trolleybuses - ЮМЗ – produced in Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine were bought. Other 10 trolleybuses of the same company were to be delivered till September, but that didn’t happen.
A ЮМЗ trolleybus costs USD 140,000. These means of transportation were bought from financial resources coming from fiscal over-collections of MDL 100 mln registered by the last year’s municipal and state budgets. From this money, other 20 German buses MAN were purchased, at a total price of MDL 50 mln.
According to the interim mayor, there is a possibility that local authorities will procure other transport units in the close future. This will happen if by the end of the current year budget over-collections will be registered.
At present, 230 trolleybuses and over 100 buses circulate on the routes of Chisinau.
