Municipal scholarship granting rules will be changed
The 200 City Hall scholarships, offered by a special committee, will be offered to students and will consist of MDL 1000 scholarships offered during the Chisinau Day festivities. The nominees are 135 pupils, 45 students in “arts” and 20 elders.
A modification of the scholarship granting rule is presently discussed in the specialized committees of the Municipal Council.
According to the interim head of the General Department of Science, Education, Youth and Sports (GDSEYS), Tatiana Nagnibeda, the new regulation may be granted annually, with a thousand MDL each. Previously, the scholarships were granted MDL 100 each month during the whole year. The money were allocated from the finances gathered during the “Businessman of the year” contest. Because this contest didn’t take place, GDESYS suggested the scholarships are offered from the Reserve fund.
The municipal scholarships are offered to pupils, sportsmen, old persons with remarkable successes in science, studying, medicine, culture, art and sport.
The Chisinau municipality has been offering these scholarships since 1998.
