Municipal public transportation tariffs were increased on Tuesday
The Chisinau Municipal Council approved on Tuesday, 25 July, with the majority of votes, the decision draft on increasing the tariffs in municipal public transport. Thus, the trolleybus ticket will cost 1 leu, the bus ticket – 2 lei, and the maxi-taxi - 3 lei.
On 11 July, the councilors approved the calculation Methodology of the tariffs in public transport, the increasing shall be aligned with the provisions of the new calculation methodology.
The head of the Economy, Reforms and Patrimony Relations General Department, Valentina Merla, announced previously that according to the methodology, the preventive calculations made by the Electric Transport Department showed that the cost of a trolleybus ticket in 2005 was of 1.46 lei, and in the light of the working agenda for 2006 – 1.84 lei. Pursuant to calculations of the Urban Bus Fleet, the cost of a bus ticket in 2005 was of 4.81 lei, and in 2006 – 5.58 lei. No calculations were performed for maxi-taxis.
Until now, the issue of increasing tariffs in all types of passenger transport of the capital was repeatedly discussed, but its solving always was postponed. A part of the councilors invoked concern towards increased public money expenses, while another part saw in this matter a politic subtext, blaming their colleagues of populism and incapacity to assume responsibilities due to political reasons.
According to the legislation in force, the decisions regarding the tariffs can be taken exclusively by Chisinau Municipal Council.
