Municipal Centre of Preventive Medicine concerned by water quality in Chisinau suburb wells
The Municipal Centre of Preventive Medicine (MCPM) is concerned by the low quality of water in Chisinau suburb wells, used for drinking water by locals. Securing potable water is a major issue for the municipality, said on Monday, February 19, during a City Hall session, MCPM chief Iurie Panzaru.
According to experts, Chisinau municipality requires a plan of measures for improving the situation, especially because of the upcoming warm period of the year.
Iurie Panzaru did not present though the results of possible lab tests, sampled from the suburb wells. The Chief of MCPM said that more local suburban town halls, including Durlesti, Cricova and Cruzesti did not pick up the lime chloride for disinfecting wells that was given pro bono. At the same time doctors were concerned of the condition of Ghidighici wells, were the previous week investigations were made.
According to the City Hall’s directives, by February 26, the Municipal Centre of Preventive Medicine has to frame a special committee and to present an informative note relating the safety of potable water.
In Chisinau municipality there are registered 1638 wells, but as stated by MCPM, this number is actually much higher.
