The tax revenue accumulated by the Chisinau municipal budget in the first quarter of 2007 made up MDL 500,684,400, or nearly 181% compared to official forecasts for the respective period, said Valentina Vazdautan, deputy chief of the General Division for Finances, on May 2. According to her, the surplus amount was collected from taxes and duties coming from entrepreneurs, economic entities and companies providing services of social assistance, as well as from income tax. At the same time, some of the planned sums failed to be collected, namely nearly MDL 3,524 mln from taxes and MDL 1,482 mln from taxes levied on service providers income. A similar situation was noticed in the real estate sector concerning fees for urbanism certificates and building authorisations, and charges for outdoor advertising. At the same time the volume of expenditures was about MDL 329 mln, or about 72.2% of the volume officially planned for this period of the year. The slow pace of expending municipal money can be explained by the necessity of concluding and registering acquisition contracts for 2007, given that the registration with the National Agency for Public Acquisitions can sometimes take more than one month.
