Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey to be carried out in Moldova
Moldova will make a national study that will enable to produce statistically sound and internationally comparable estimates of a range of indicators related to health, education, child protection, and HIV and AIDS, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the National Public Health Center.
The survey in Moldova is carried out by the National Public Health Center with technical and financial support from UNICEF and the contribution of the World Health Organization and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation. The questionnaires were adjusted to the country’s necessities with the help of representatives of the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Education, the Center for the Prevention and Combating of HIV/AIDS, the UN Agencies in Moldova and others. The confidentiality of personal data will be ensured when collecting and analyzing the information.
The study will offer data comparable with the situation for the last ten years and will help the Government to draft policies and strategies based on evidence in such spheres as health, education and child and family welfare.
The survey was piloted during April 9-11. The data collection process will last for two months and a half and will take place between April 17 and June 30. The preliminary results will be available at this yearend. The study will cover a sample of 12 000 households from all the country’s settlements.
The Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey is a global UNICEF initiative implemented once in 3-5 years. During the last few years, it was carried out in about 100 countries. Moldova is taking part in the current round of the study alongside Ukraine, Belarus, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and other countries.
