MPs Vasile Bolea, Alexandr Suhodolski join pro-Russian Revival Party

MPs Vasile Bolea and Alexandr Suhodolski today announced they were joining the extra-parliamentary Revival Party, following fellow lawmakers Alexandr Nesterovski and Irina Lozovan, who left the Socialist Party earlier.

Together with two other fresh additions, Iury Vitnyanskiy and Natalia Parasca, all four have been elected to the party’s board.

Nesterovski told a press briefing on Monday that alongside the party’s leader, Sergey Mishin, they intend to become an influential political force that will participate in the general local elections this coming autumn.

The Revival Party advocates for Moldova keeping its neutrality, for “Moldovan” as the country’s state language and for Russian as the second official language. Also, the party wants a stronger Orthodox church and the consolidation of “traditional family values”. Economically and politically, the Revival Party wants closer ties with Russia and the Eurasian union.

Vasile Bolea said that he was surprised by the reactions from his PSRM colleagues last week following his visit to Israel. According to him, upon his return he spoke about the purpose of the visit and was surprised by the fact that, “without asking for explanations”, the PSRM board decided to expel him and Alexandr Suhodolski from the parliamentary group and the party altogether. He added he was confident that the Revival Party would succeed in “reviving the political left “.
