MPs to hold extraordinary meetings on Thursday and Friday

The Parliament is due to hold extraordinary meetings on Thursday and Friday, August 15 and 16. Deputies will examine in the second reading the adjustments to 2019 state budget, as well as the initiative of the president of the country, which envisages the indexation of pensions twice a year, IPN reports.

Speaker Zinaida Greceanii said at a press conference that the Standing Bureau approved the agenda for the meetings. According to the head of the legislature, the need to convene extraordinary meetings arises from Government’s request to examine some issues that cannot be postponed for September, when the ordinary meetings will take place. Issues included on the agenda refer to the adjustments to 2019 budget, adjustments to the budgetary -fiscal policy, the initiative that provides for the cancellation of fiscal facilities for the gambling sector. Also, the bill regarding the operation of duty-free shops at the entry into the country will be examined.

"Today I told my colleagues at the Standing Bureau meeting that if we work well tomorrow, starting at eleven o'clock and maybe until twelve (at night) we could finish in a single meeting, in one day. Depending on the active participation of the deputies and their full consent to voting this agenda," Zinaida Greaceanii said.

The spring parliamentary session 2019 ended on July 31.
