MPs find Parliament doors locked
Moldovan lawmakers waited for minutes in front of the door before being able to enter and go to the Parliament session. The doors of the Palace of the Republic were locked because the metal detector was missing, was the explanation they heard. The MPs entered the building after 20 minutes and, coincidence or not, the door opened exactly when First Deputy Speaker Vlad Plahotniuc arrived.
“I’m disgusted to go through this door. God forbid. Moldova is Wonderland”, said Veaceslav Ionita, PLDM parliamentarian, who waited alongside the others to get in, Info-Prim Neo reports.
During the session, he asked to be explained why he was searched and why the doors opened miraculously. “I want some answers. I can’t be searched in front of the Parliament building and the law gives me parliamentary privilege. The Constitution says that a lawmaker cannot be restricted access to Parliament and can’t be searched”, declared Ionita.
He asked the General Prosecutor’s Office to provide an explanation for this situation.
Parliament adjourned until 1:00 pm. Meanwhile, the AIE members will hold a meeting.
