MP to notify PGO of illegal management of ponds

PPPDA MP Dinu Plîngău said he was informed by a group of mayors of Edineț district that the ponds in their localities are used illegally by third parties and the authorities and locals do not have access to them. The MP noted he will notify the Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO) and will ask this to examine the actions of the so-called business entities based on articles of the Penal Code, IPN reports.

“They mayors do not have access to these ponds. The locals are often beaten and intimidated when they want to come closer to the ponds to enable the cattle to drink or just want to have access to the pond in the own village. This is very serious. Evidently, when I was informed, I made a number of approaches to see based on what provisions these persons manage the ponds,” stated the MP.

According to him, most of the responses were that the ponds are managed by the state. The Public Property Agency said that 17 ponds in Edineț district were leased out based on a decision made by the executive committee of the local council, but it’s known that the ponds are undividable property and this is not allowed.

Dinu Plîngău said he travelled to the scene and determined that the situation in Edineț is like in other districts – the ponds in the country are managed not in accordance with the legal provisions.
