MP Marina Tauber of the Shor Party will remain in preventive detention after the Chisinau Court of Appeal dismissed her lawyer’s request for review as unfounded.

Appearing in court, Tauber told reporters the measure amounted to “political pressure” against her and her party.

Aureliu Colenco, Tauber’s lawyer, said the charges against his client are based on “suppositions” rather than facts.

On July 21, Parliament stripped MP Marina Tauber of immunity from prosecution and shortly after she was placed under preventive arrest for 30 days. Tauber has been charged with two offenses: knowingly accepting illegal financing for the Shor Party from an organized criminal group; and falsifying the party’s financial report for the first half of 2022 with the intention of withholding actual incomes and expenses.
