Almost 60% of the respondents of the Public Opinion Barometer consider the political parties should not be funded with money from the state budget. Over 50% of those polled do not think that the financing of political parties by the state will reduce the influence of rich persons on parties, IPN reports.
Recently, Parliament passed a bill on party funding in the final reading. Thus, starting with 2016 the political parties will have the right to annually receive money from the state budget through the Central Election Commission. The given allocations will represent not more than 0.2% of the state budget incomes.
50% of the earmarked amount will be provided to the political parties proportionally to their performance in the parliamentary elections, while 50 % – proportionally to their performance in the local general elections.
