Most of POB respondents would vote Vladimir Voronin President

The leader of the Communist Party (PCRM) Vladimir Voronin would obtain 24.5% of the vote in direct presidential elections in Moldova. He would be followed by the chairman of the Democratic Party Marian Lupu with 7.2% of the poll, shows the Public Opinion Barometer (POB) carried out by CBS-AXA. The survey was commissioned by the Public Policy Institute, IPN reports.

4.7% of the respondents would vote for the leader of the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) Vlad Filat. Current Prime Minister Iurie Leanca would gain 4.3% of the poll. 15.7% of the respondents said they would vote for no one as head of state, while almost one third didn’t know how to answer or didn’t want to give an answer.

Asked which party they would choose if legislative elections were held next Sunday, 34.3% of those questioned said they would vote for the PCRM, 12.9% for the PLDM, 8.6% for the PDM, while 7.5% for the PL. Other parties would not pass the election threshold. One in ten of the respondents said they are decided not to take part in the polls.

The survey was conducted between November 6 and November 15. It covered a sample of 1,144 people from 85 settlements. The margin of sampling error is 3%.
