As many as 195 mayors elected in the second round of the local elections are aged between 46 and 55, 104 are aged between 56 and 70, while 107 are aged between 56 and 70. Fifty-one mayors are aged between 25 and 35, shows the preliminary data from the electronic system of the Central Election Commission (CEC), IPN reports.

CEC president Iurie Ciocan said 140 mayors elected in the second round represent the Democratic Party, 104 – the Liberal Democratic Party, 46 – the Party of Communists, 41 – the Political Party “Our Party”, 30 – the Liberal Party, 34 are independents, 29 represent the Party of Socialists, 20 - the Electoral Bloc “European People’s Platform of Moldova”, two – the National Liberal Party and by one – the People’s Party of the Republic of Moldova and the Party “Our Home – Moldova”.

As to the elections that were rerun in Ulmu village of Ialoveni district and Topala village of Cimislia district, the CEC president said the mayor in the first settlement was elected, while in Topala the situation is interesting as one candidate polled 50% of the vote and a second round of voting could be held there.

In Tvardita, Tarcalia, two independents were to compete in the second round, but one of these asked to be excluded from the race. Afterward, the third-ranked candidate was written on the ballot.

As regards the mayoral elections in Chisinau municipality, Iurie Ciocan said the difference in the results scored by the two candidates is about 21,000 votes.

Starting with June 29, the CEC is receiving the signed vote counting reports on paper from the electoral councils. These will be verified and the election outcome is to be validated by courts.
