Most expensive flour is sod in northern and southern Moldova
Flour in some districts in the northern and southern parts of the country registered high prices of 6.6 lei/kg on average. At the same time, the Chisinau-based Cereal Factory and some branches of “Moldcoop” are selling flour for 4 – 5.2 lei/kg depending on its quality. The information was provided by Minister of Economy and Trade Igor Dodon at the last meeting of the Commission for Emergencies.
The Minister stated that 2.67 thousand tonnes of flour at a price of 3.8 lei have been imported to Moldova last week. This way, the necessary quantity of about 6.3 thousand tonnes is guaranteed to provide the bakeries with flour till the end of the year.
Igor Dodon says that no increase in the bread price has been registered during the same period in most of the districts and the situation has become stable after the inspection bodies got involved.
The cited data show that 640 tonnes of mixed fodder have been also imported last week. No wheat has been imported in August, but on the other hand, fodder corn has been imported.
No corn or wheat has been exported either during the same period.
On the domestic market the price of wheat during the last week became stable, that is 3.3 – 3.5 lei for food wheat. Fodder wheat is being sold for 3.3 lei/kg.
