More than 350 people have signed up for the Great National Dictation Test, about a week after the initiative was announced, said the Government’s spokesperson Daniel Vodă in a press conference on Monday.
“This year, the Day of the Romanian Language will be marked in an extraordinary way, with a Great National Dictation, a Romanian language test to be held on August 31 in the square of the National Opera and Ballet Theater, said Daniel Voda. In previous years, the event was organized in public libraries in Chisinau and other cities.
The initiative was announced by Minister of Education Dan Perciun in a press conference on August 15. The event, which will start at 10:00 AM, is intended for everyone, from teachers, to students, to representatives of various professions. Those interested can register on the website of the Ministry of Education: mec.gov.md. The finalists of the Great National Dictation will be awarded at the beginning of September.
The text proposed to the participants in the test will be selected from among the winners of an essay writing contest titled “Why should the Republic of Moldova be part of the European Union?”. The examinees will also be given a passage from Romanian literature dedicated to the Romanian language. Entries for the essay contest can be submitted until August 24.
