Monitoring of language quality on TV will cost 30,000 lei

The Broadcast Coordinating Council (CCA) will spend 30,000 lei on monitoring the quality of spoken and written language on TV channels in Moldova. The selected channels will be monitored beginning next week, Info-Prim Neo reports. Experts from the Academy of Sciences of Moldova will monitor 12 or 13 TV channels. The first were selected the channels with national coverage, then those that have local newscasts and entertainment shows. The quality of Romanian language in subtitled movies will also be monitored. Mariana Onceanu-Hadarca, CCA member, stated that only the parts concerning editors and reports would be monitored, not the interviewees’ parts. The monitoring will include 12 news programs and will last according to the broadcasting regime of monitored channels. The goal is to improve the situation regarding the language spoken on TV, to identify frequent mistakes and develop guidelines for the media which will be published on the CCA site. The monitoring will be financed from the Fund for support of broadcasters, which is collected from the contributions of broadcasters and is administered by CCA to their benefit. CCA members think that this monitoring will be for the good of broadcasters. Last year, a monitoring of 13 TV channels was carried out.
