Money transfers from Russia to Moldova reached USD 115 mln
In the second trimester of this year, money transfers from Russia to the Republic of Moldova have reached USD 115 millions, and have made up 8,9% of all financial means that have been transferred from the Russian Federation.
According to the Central Bank of Russia, in the mentioned period there were transfers from Russia of an overall amount of USD 1.29 billion, or a 58% increase compared to the first trimester. The greatest amount of money transfers were made to Uzbekistan and the Ukraine - 16,3% to each, followed by Tajikistan – 14,5%, Armenia – 10%.
According to the National Bank of Moldova (BNM), in 2005 financial means transferred to the Republic of Moldova by individual persons, through banking and transfer systems, have reached USD 683.24 mln, an amount that is 23.4% of the GDP. Funds transferred through the banking system by Moldovan residents from the Russian Federation made up 40.6% of this amount.
According to data from BNM, the financial means transferred from Russia equaled USD 277.4 millions, or a little more than 9% of the GDP, and this amount is only the money transferred through the banking system. No information is known about unofficial transfers.
