Foreign currency remittances transferred via the banking system, operated by Moldovan citizens who work abroad, reached the figure of USD 764.7 mln after 11 months of 2006, this way approaching the anticipations of independent experts. According to them, transfers via the bank system for the entire year 2006 will vary between USD 800 and 900 mln. In comparison, in 2005, remittances via the banking system totalled USD 683.25 mln. Consequently, the increase in 2006 will mark 24-30%. In November 2006, the amount of transfers was of USD 79.37 mln, and the greatest sum remitted via the banking system by the Moldovans working abroad has been registered in August – USD 86.14 mln. The total amount of remittances (through official and unofficial means), for the entire 2006, could reach the level of USD 1.2 to 1.3 bln.
