Thursday’s sitting of Parliament began with a moment of silence in memory of the victims of the Ukraine war that has lasted for almost three years. Images of attacks on the neighboring state’s infrastructure were projected during the sitting, IPN reports.
"In a few days we will enter the fourth year of war in Ukraine. If someone had told me three years ago that we would have a war a few kilometers from the Republic of Moldova, I would not have believed them and none of you would have believed it. The reality, however, is different. For three years every day, Ukraine has been fighting with bravery and dignity for democracy, freedom, sovereignty and peace," said Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu.
According to him, Ukrainians have been dying for three years because they do not want to give up the country and because they are patriots. "We have witnessed an unjust war. We have been witnesses to three years of illegal, immoral, I have every right to say, "criminal" invasion of Russia because an individual with unprecedented power ambitions wants to establish "ruskii mir" in Ukraine and rebuild an empire. For the purpose, he is ready to kill not only soldiers, but also women, children, elderly people," said the official.
Igor Grosu noted that the Ukrainians fight for a free country and their courage also ensures peace in the Republic of Moldova. "Moldova will stand by Ukraine for as long as necessary," said the Speaker.
February 24 will mark three years since Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
