The MPs began Thursday’s sitting with a moment of silence in memory of the heroes killed on the Coșnița Plateau in 1992, IPN reports.
Speaker Igor Grosu said that the first casualties on the Coșnița Plateau were witnessed on the night of March 14, 1992. Nicolae Sotnicenco, a police lieutenant, was the first to be killed in the battle for defending his country, the independence, sovereignty and integrity of the Republic of Moldova.
"Unfortunately, in that war on the Nistru, a war unleashed by the Russian Federation against our country in 1992, heroes of the nation were killed on the Coșnița Plateau," said Igor Grosu.
On March 2, it was 33 years since the start of the actions to defend the territorial integrity and independence of the Republic of Moldova, which involved 40,000 citizens of the Republic of Moldova. 321 people fell in battle.
