Moldova’s plan for May 9 is to make sure law is obeyed

The May 9 parade will not be staged in Moldova. All kinds of peaceful meetings and events to commemorate those who died in World War II can be mounted, President Maia Sandu stated in a televised interview.

The official noted that such things are acceptable and suitable when they are held to commemorate, not to incite hatred or to promote war or similar acts.

As to the moderator’s assertion that they do not commemorate, but make a show in Moldova on May 9, President Sandu said there are people who commemorate and there are people who make a show and those who make a show should obey the law.

As to the possible dangers on May 9 this year, including to national security, Maia Sandu said there are particular plans, but the forces should be on duty. “I repeat, those who aim to destabilize the situation should know that they will be penalized,” said Maia Sandu.
