Moldova’s inflation rate is CIS’ highest

In the first six months of 2006, the inflation rate of Moldova was the highest among all CIS member states and represented 7.4%. According to data presented by the CIS statistic committee, RM is followed by Tajikistan, which in the first six months of 2006 registered an inflation of 6.6%, and Russia, where this quota is of 6.2%. On the other hand, the lowest inflation rate was registered in Ukraine – 2.9%, and Belarus – 3.1% etc. The National Bureau of Statistics has announced at the beginning of this month that the inflation rate in the first six months of 2006 was of 7.4%. At the same time, economic analysts announced recently that the inflation in Moldova will increase further due to increase of the price of gas and petroleum, electricity, as well as due to lack of alternatives to energy imports.
