Moldova’s Independence Day celebrated in St. Petersburg

The Independence Day of the Republic of Moldova was celebrated in Russia’s Saint Petersburg. An area intended for the Republic of Moldova was set up at the Tauride Palace, which is home to the Interparliamentary Assembly of Member Nations of the Commonwealth of Independent States, on August 27.

The organizers displayed the state flag of the Republic of Moldova, traditional carpets, cushions with covers embroidered manually with national ornaments and a painting with Ruler Stephan the Great and Holy. Folk music was played during the event.



Earlier, Ion Lipciu, Moldova’s permanent representative to the Interparliamentary Assembly, told IPN that the event titled “Great Home – Republic of Moldova” was planned to include folk music performances, a presentation of national dishes, photo and painting exhibitions by Moldovan artists and an exhibit of Moldovan traditional carpets and national costumes.



The event ended with a reception that was attended by over 300 guests.

During September 9-11, Gatchina town in Leningrad Oblast will host a series of events related to the celebration of 30 years of the declaring of Moldova’s independence, including exhibitions of photos and paintings made by Moldovans artists, a folk music performance, a presentation of national dishes and an exhibition of national dresses. Governor Alexandr Drozdenko confirmed his participation in the events.
