Moldova's Democratic Party becomes consultative member of Socialist International
The Democratic Party of Moldova (PDM) said in a press release it acquired on Monday the membership with consultative status in the Socialist International, with the unanimous vote of the XXIII Congress of the organization, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“PDM is the only party in Moldova to have obtained this status with the strongest political family both in Europe and in the world, thus receiving recognition and approval of the values and principles it promotes”, the release reads.
The Socialist International holds its congress in the coastal resort town of Lagonissi, southeast of Athens, from June 29 to July 2. Themed “Global Solidarity: The Courage to Make a Difference”, the event brings together more than 700 delegates representing 150 political parties and groups from 120 countries. The agenda includes discussions on climate change, the need for global democratic governance, world economic growth, the migration, peace and the resolution of conflicts, the food crisis, and the worldwide social democratic movement. The Republic of Moldova is represented by PDM president Dumitru Diacov and PDM first vice-president Oleg Serebrian.
On Wednesday, July 2, the PDM delegation will deliver a speech on the effects of migration.
