FC Tiraspol is the new holder of Moldova’s Football Cup. In the final played on Zimbru Stadium in Chisinau on May 26, the team trained by Vlad Goian beat Veris Chisinau 6-4 in overtime, IPN reports.
“Luck was on our side. We dominated the game, but should have been faster at certain moments. I’m glad that we found strength to win. We have waited for this result for a long time and I want to congratulate the players and supporters of the team,” FC Tiraspol coach Vlad Goian told a news conference.
“The Cup was very close to us, but we didn’t have the several additional minutes that we needed. It was a spectacular match, with intrigue and the spectators liked it. We didn’t deserve losing, but the match showed that even if we are a young team, we go in the right direction,” said Viorel Frunza, the leader of Veris Chisinau.
Now FC Tiraspol will represent Moldova in Europa League.
